Prayer and Faith

Salt and Light Ministry was born out of a desire to remain connected and spiritually supported during the unprecedented times of the global pandemic. In 2020, as the world faced the onset of Covid-19 and physical gatherings in churches became impossible, the Evangelism Committee of the Rawathawatte Circuit took a bold step. They initiated weekly prayer meetings via Zoom to ensure that the congregation could continue to pray and support one another. This responsibility was entrusted to Brother Shanika Silva, who had a vision for daily prayer meetings aimed at seeking God's intervention for the eradication of Covid-19 and for healing across the globe...

Our vision is encapsulated in the words of James 5:13-16:

Our Vision

“Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

We believe in the transformative power of prayer offered in faith and strive to be a beacon of hope and light in the world.
